Last week I visited the Crescent Moon Museum, the oldest continous museum in SL, exhibiting the amazing art inventory of Tayzia Abattoir. After talking for some time, she gave me a wonderful present – a set of jewellery made by her friend Random Calliope, who incidentally has been featured in “Best of SL” magazine. The museum is currently running a competition whereby visitors can win amazing sets of jewellery by answering some questions about, so for those of you thinking of going, here is some background to brush up on.

Mata Hari! This reknowned historical figure was Dutch and being dutch myself, I am proud to have such a strong lady in our history. Her background is mysterious, yet her life well-documented. In short, she lived from 1876 – 1917 and was a famous international erotic dancer who managed to capture the hearts and imaginations of some of the most powerful men of her time-mostly based on the mystery of who she was.  A true lady of spin.

However, some unfortunate consequences resulted in her being accused of  spionage, which soon after resulted in her execution by firing squad. It is still debated where she was truly a spy or not, yet the her awe and the web of mystery this lady wove around her has inspired many films and books.

The WorthWhile Valley is a modern and minimalistic serene place in the green. The jewellery is well presented on beautiful pictures. The designs are truly amazing and some close inspection will reveal their intricate detail. If you need a special present for Xmas, then its definatly a good place to find great artifacts, such as the free peace marked with the famous song of John Lennon: “You may say I’m a dreamer. But i am not the only one. I hope some day you ‘ll join us. And the world will live as one”.
