A big part of fashion in Second Life is poses which can involve several areas from fashion photographs right onto the catwalk.   If you are like me, you probably have poses scattered throughout your inventory making it difficult to find the right poses for the right occassion.  I finally threw my hands up and said “enough.”  So I went on a search to find the perfect vehicle which will give me the versatility I needed, at an affordable price, and didn’t require that I was a scripting genuis in order to operate it .  I tried out a few until I hit pay dirt – Tillie’s Posing Stand – created by Tillie Ariantho.   Tillie Ariantho wears many hats in the fashion world.  She is not only a wonderful photographer (Tillie Ariantho’s Flickr page), models herself, has her own blog called Tillie’s Things of Second Life and her own store called Tillie’s Store, where you can purchase this posestand.  So if anyone knew what was needed, surely she would.  I wasn’t disappointed!

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. The organization began in 1980 with one wish to a little 7-year-old boy with leukemia.  His dream was to become a police offer, and through the amazing efforts of others they made his dream come true.  He was sworn in as the first honorary patrolman in Arizona’s Department of Safety.  Little Chris enjoyed a helicopter ride, a custom made police uniform, and a set of motorcycle wings for passing the motorcycle proficiency test.  Sadly Chris passed away on May 3, 1980 but his legacy lives on by inspiring others to grant wishes that provide hope, strength, and joy to children and their families.

I personally have had the pleasure of working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® in real life.  The network of volunteers and their dedication is remarkable.  The organization has grown tremendously over the last 28 years all thanks to many generous donations.  Please join your fellow SL™ residents as they come together to raise money and awareness for this wonderful cause.

All are invited to the SL™ Celebrity Auction to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation®.  It will be held this Sunday, December 28th from 1pm until 5pm in the Patch Thibaud Auditorium.  21 Celebrities will be auctioned off for a wonderful cause.

MIMI’S CHOICE – Men

CONGRATULATIONS!

MIMI JUNEAU   voted  SL ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR

Last week I had the pleasure of writing about Mimi’s Choice – Women’s.  As I had promised earlier, I am dedicated to writing more about men’s fashion and the ability for men to be able to read this blog and find new and fantastic places to purchase quality clothing.

Across the street from Mimi’s women’s clothing, is located Mimi’s men’s.  When you walk into the shop you immediately notice the tranquil and beautifully designed atmosphere.  Everywhere you look it is pleasing to your eyes.  Clothing is supported by an array of designers who do absolute quality clothing for the man with an eye towards fashion.  Let’s face it, everyone will notice a man who is dressed well, the same as women are noticed.  There are those out there who don’t really care, but I want to say that a few extra linden’s put towards your wardrobe will speak volumes about anyone, especially men.

At Mimi’s you can find anything from designer jeans and shirts to outstanding tuxes.  The layout of the shop makes it easy to find anything you are looking for.  It is not crowded and over packed with items.  Yet it is definitely a one stop shopping experience.  I love simplicity and not over crowding.  Knowing a little about men, they don’t care for it either.  Make it easy and they love it.

The Artist Advice: “For this show we need 30 models. We’re looking for tall and skinny models. The normal 1.75 – 1.80 length and sizes close to 90-60-90. We took basic pictures of the models and now we are waiting for the designers to decide which ones they like to see at the catwalk. This week the decision will be made!”

EFA - AIFW 2009 (red)

The audition for the EFA-AIFW2009 show will take place at 4 January 2009, 12.00 AM – 02.00 PM SLT

I know this post is not about fashion, but forget the fabulous Christmas outfits, the big diners, the glamour parties and the surprising presents for a while. Christmas is on the way and time to spend some of your time to take a little care of people who will need it in these days.

EFA - Noel - Children in hospital

A lot of children have to stay in the hospital during Christmas instead of being home with their family. You can make these days a little nicer for them by sending a message, let your imagination run free, your message will help to offer some comfort and hope for these children and will put a smile on their face.

How? It is very simple…

The “Fondation Réunica Prévoyance”  in association with “L’enfant@l’hopital” have set up a Christmas Message Tree. Take a taxi to this tree, simply click on the card to write the message you want to deliver to a child (in French or English – don’t forget to mention your country).

The “L’enfant@l’hopital” will  collect these message and will take care of delivering the supporting messages to children in various hospitals in France.

Don’t forget to have a look at the drawings of the children too. These cartoons are part of a competition. In January you can visit this place again to vote on your favorite cartoon.

Merry Christmas!

Oscar Page

If you have looked at the latest issue of Second Style (Issue #23), you’ll notice a very prominent name listed on the cover- Oscar Page.   A title well deserved, I might add.  I’ve known Oscar for quite some time and he’s not only been a very good friend, but is one of the few men I know in Second Life that not only loves to shop, but always looks very stylish and up-to-date.  Unlike most men in Second Life who tend to wear the same thing over and over, Oscar has more than one or two outfits in his inventory. Oscar is also one of the old timers, has been in Second Life since 2004, so he has  a unique perspective on fashion for men and how it has evolved through the years.  Oscar has harnessed all those years and created his own blog for men’s fashion in Second Life called Oscaresque Fashion Sense in a Second World.  If you are male in Second Life who can’t stand shopping and the time involved,  then you’ll definitely want to bookmark this site to find out the latest styles and releases.
