June 2009

Recently I attended a fashion show for a designer I had never heard of.  There are so many designers in Second Life, that this wasn’t an extraordinary occurance.  I had gotten my first look a the works of a designer unknown to me a number of times before.  What was different in this case was that this ws not a new designer, but one that has been around for some time, producing very unique clothing of excellent quality and detail.  Thea Tamura and her TTFashion brand may not be well known but I think that is about to change.  She has been a Second Life designer or some time and has ventured into most areas of design, including clothing, shoes, boots, hair and jewelry for both women men.  What immediately catches one’s eye are the intricate and expertly done textures on the clothes.  The patterns and colors are outstanding and placed with thought to achieve the desired effect.  Beyond the textures, Thea also creates unique styles.  Her prim additions to the clothing are more than just flared skirts and cuffs.  Pictured below is the MINHA Dress.

This dress is a good example of both Thea’s texture work and use of prims.  The prim skirt is more than just a repetition of similarly textured parts.  Patterns are used to create the illusion of openings and pleats.  In addition, the prims of the skirt are meticulously layered and positioned to create a more life-like fullness and movement.  It also extends up above the waist to the lower torso so that the dress seems more of a whole.  Nice details are added in the prim collar and even a prim fabric draping on the back.  The matchig hat is made with the hair as part, thus offering this complete look.

A photographer in Second Life, Gyorgyna Larnia has expanded her creativity into the world of jewelry.  She has been designing jewelry for a little over three months now and has signed on with Applonia Criss of Chantkare to accessorize her new line of clothing.  This business partnership is a match made in heaven!

This seasons accessories are making a huge statement… big and bold!

Boules Necklace (paglia gold)

The Boules necklace is a large piece of jewelry, perfectly worn on an open neckline.   The rope knots are separated by three beads in paglia gold and finished with brown wooden beads.  A very natural combination for a down to earth girl.

EFA SUMMER IN MILANO WITH MEB flyer

About MEB – MariaElena Barbosa designs Stylish Clothes under the motto ‘Real Style in Second Life’. Her inspirations range from casual to urban style reaching high levels of elegance in evening outfits. In this area MEB creates clothes which challenges the excessive veils and other artifices present in many SL clothes, producing instead the wearable styles of the classic and sport lines with surprising spots of graceful fantasy.   Wearable collections for both the daily events and glamorous ones ins Second and in Real Life.

MEB offers  a casual, elegant aggressiveness in the sets of jeans and leather jackets, coats and overcoats which highlight in the best way the sobriety of urban style.  Some specially elegant dresses enriched with transparencies and laces are combined with very original jackets  reminiscent of the most fascinating last century of fashion.  Through its floral fantasies MEB brings its luxurious style into the extremely modern context.

MEB keeps stores or shops in malls in more than 30 lands, makes fashion shows with prominent Fashion Agencies, has presented its dresses periodically on SLNC TV (last show: http://www.slcn.tv/media/moda_065_23mar09.mp4), and is included in the Modavia Fashion Directory.

On June 14th, Mashooka Designs opened  a new store at White Taj and the Ewing Fashion Agency was pleased to be there to present the latest designs of Aradhana Voight.  The models of Ewing graced a runway situated in front of the new shop in a selection of designs from casual to authentic Indian formals.  Mashooka Designs is well known for it’s high qualityIndian clothing as well as asian inspired western styles.  The fashion show this day demonstrated the range of Aradhana’s work and the assembled guests were excited to get their first look at her newest creations.  Each item, from a brand new sexy two piece beach dress to the full Indian bridal raiments, brought applause of appreciation.

As if Aradhana’s clothing line isn’t enough, she also produces jewelry of intricate and detailed design.  Each model was accesorized exclusively with Mashooka jewelry for this show.  Seen were items from exqusite necklaces and earrings to full Indian sets, all of them finely crafted.  The precious metal and jewel textures used produce a realism not seen from many and the craftsmanship is amazing.

AZUL

Hello all and welcome to my weekly blog.  I thought to myself, “Tammy, here it is June the Wedding Month, I think wedding gowns are in order.”  More than that, here we go.

I was talking with my good friend Mami Jewell, owner of Azul, about working with Ewing in a fasion show a couple of weeks ago.  She got right in with us and wow did she ever blow the top off the place with her fashions.  Then the icing on the cake, was her new Wedding Dress line.  Absolutely devine.  Since not all of you were able to make the show, I want to do a show of my own.  If you want the totaly “WOW” factor at your wedding and make your fiance’s eye’s bug out, then here ya go, as all eyes will be on you.

Let’s face it!   Sunglasses are the embodiment of cool and make an immediate statement about who you you.  Looking for fun in shades this season?  Well, this season’s looks are all about making a statement.  We all know how to do that, right?

Sunglasses have taken their cue from runway and street fashion.  Retro looks like aviators and oversized “Jackie O” frames along with sleek, futuristic sheild shapes compliment what’s going on in fashion.  You may find that just like clothing, the same old fashion trends are popular again.  Retro looks are considered hip and are expected to generate a tremendous response from those who follow fashion.

Aviators… Shaped like a teardrop, metal-rimmed aviators have always made a comeback since World War II when pilots wore them.
