efa design awards

Have I already told you that I am taking care of Sebastiaan and Kenny’s plants in their beautiful house in Costa Rica? You’ve probably read their Alpha Male posts and noticed they have a good sense of taste, which is surely reflected in their home! Really fabulous, guys, thanks again for letting me stay here. It is bringing me in a sunny summer mood day to day…

And so does this chain from EarthStones. Abraxxa Anatine gave it to me. I like it a lot, because it can give an extra touch to many different outfits. It makes a jeans outfit with a simple white tank less standard and it can give a spring dress that sunny mood or even completely warm up a winter outfit. Or it can be simply worn with your bikini at a stylish beach. With all the colors of the stones it is not difficult to find a matching outfit!

There are many more nice items to complete your outfit at the EarthStones Boutique. The VIP-guest members already had the change to taste a little bit of the EarthStones collection with the items in the goodie bag of the EFA-Design Award. Also, do you wanna be on the VIP-guest list? Send me an IM and you will be added.

Ewing Fashion Agency would like to respond to a post we came across on the Shopping Cart Disco (SDC) blog, which highlighted some of the grievances felt by some designers during the gala event held last Sunday for the EFA Design Awards. We would like to apologise to those who felt disappointed, because of accessibility issues at the EFA awards event. The event was created in good faith by the agency for a group we feel is grossly under represented in as far as competitions go.

We had intended to operate a guest list, but the requests grew and soon the sim limit of 100 was greatly surpassed and as we like to think of all our guests as important, we decided to open the sim and informed all the designers to arrive before the announced start time. The truth is, we were simply overwhelmed by guests and so as the sim load increased, we triaged the situation by asking extra employees to leave to lessen the load and individually contacted designers who were online to try to get them into the sim so that they could be present.  What is not reflected the post is the number of people who were present and enjoyed the event, including the mentioned designer, with whom we worked directly to get her and her guest into the event.

We are aware of the accessibility issues that occurred on the night. Having said that, all winning designers who were online were actually present to collect their awards. Those that were not, were not online. We also want to clarify that all awards have now been distributed to the winning designers as per the contest rules, whether they were present or not and finally that it is all a matter of process and time, OnRez has actually published an entry on their blog to coincide with conclusion of the distribution of prizes.

I would like to clarify that the organiser of the event is not at all upset at the said designer referred to within the post. Infact, I have spoken to the designer in order to clear up any misunderstanding that may result from the post. I harbour no hard feelings or grudges against anyone – the IM was more a reflection of sadness for her because she was not online and it was a great moment for her. I am actually very fond of the lady in question and I am proud and happy for her and that has and will not change – facts can often be miscontrued with taken out of context.

Every event, presents its challenges and at EFA we learn from each experience and constantly strive to improve and will do our best to make the next EFA event as enjoyable as possible for all attending.

Thank you

Miss Una Ewing

It’s the weekend after the EFA Design Awards and we can all still feel the excitement about the fantastic show. If you missed the ceremony, don’t despair: Now is the perfect time to prepare for the next big fashion event. You can never go wrong with a nice, black tuxedo and this is one of the best.

Be Prepared!

You’ll look like a celebrity when you step out in this Tuxedo X Color from Tango NY. It features a beautifully textured, black silk neck tie and a stiffly starched white tuxedo shirt. The cut of the black jacket and pants is reminiscent of Hollywood’s Golden Age and this classic “Grammar” hairstyle from Armidi will have your fans swooning in the aisle. Finish the look with these elegant City Walk shoes from Shiny things and you’ll be more than ready for your next trip down the red carpet.

Finally relatively sane after my one day’s down time after the award’s show, I can sit back and reflect more on the beauty and wonder of the event. Nearly everyone wore their SL-Oscar best; beautiful and breath taking.

In keeping with the awards ceremony tradition, we too were dressed to the splendid nines. Helping me with this was none other than Leezu Baxter, of LBD – LeeZu Baxter Designs. I was so excited when she had offered to create something for me; so honored to be able to wear one of my favorite designers on such a momentous occasion. The gown was an elegant black, floor length number in the same style as her recently released Kali Flexi Dress. Leezu’s carte blanche, though, added just that special touch to make it even more glamorous from the gold, bronze and white texture to the gold sequined bustier and body overlay on chest, belly and leg.

While the evening was very much about the prize winning designers, I could not help but walk away feeling like a winner myself. I look forward to next year!

EFA and OnRez in conjunction with GM Nikolaidis – the creator of winning award design, photographer and scultptor are pleased to offer hand-held versions of the EFA Design Awards ’08 trophies. The normal 11th hour panic session preceded the event kick-off. I had left the texturing of the venue till the last minute. Amazing what a fab chic black marble texture can do. Guests walked a trail of red carpets and photo-op walls with logos featuring EFA, OnRez and First Meta logos. Then came into our themed Egyptian event hall. Guests were then greeted by beautiful bunny girls dressed by battered boudoir (Eloria Leshelle) and Szentasha Fashions (Jynne Salome). The show kicked off with a performance by a number of beautiful ballerinas and renditions of Swan Lake and then at 11AM, my platform descended.

My character for this event was an Egyptian princess, but I missed the male “slaves” I needed for my descent and since we had reached 98 high-ranking fashionistas before the start of the show and we were walking on the moon, I figured I would start without them. The script worked perfectly. Thanks to Jabba Aabye, except the chat and response lag of about two minutes presented a challenge few could dismiss. DJ Syriana streamed an arabesque tune called loving girl, which was perfect for the descent and opening of the show and dance – after which I changed into numerous colour variations of the the “Una” dress made by Simone Stern.

The turn out was simply AMAZING! Huds and tools had been taken off. It was either hair and clothes next, so after the sim crashed, the first thing we did was to get rid of the chairs – easier for the standing ovations, let say and it allowed us (some of use atleast) to keep our hair for the paparazzi within the crowd. A fantastic time was had by all and the three hour show was followed by a three hour party by Syriana Paine. Starr Singer with her amazing voice did join us for about 15 minutes, which was as also, an amazing pleasure! The event goodbag was sponsored by EarthStones (Abraxxa Anatine). Below is a run down of the presenters and winners and the event pictures by Tillie Ariantho.
