Beside the new collection of Jennifer Delano, “Then, Now, Soon” , two more collections will be showed during the show at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week 2009. The audience at the Beurs van Berlage will be spoiled with the new collections of Eleonore de Ruuk and Melanie Brown.

Eleonore de Ruuk begun her own fashion label under her own name “Eleonore de Ruuk” in 2006. Her style can described best as a mix of streetwear and highfashion. Her trademark are hoods, which she combines in original ways, such as a hood combined with a tie or backpack, but also used in jumpsuits and dresses. Her hoods, graphical shapes and prints and the use of sportive fabrics contribute to the streetfeeling, while on the other hand her subtle use of more elegant fabrics and shapes contributes to a delicate style. All these elements combined give her work a recognisable style. Eleonore de Ruuk won the “Ispo Brandnew Style Award” 2008 for her timeless and highly individualistic style.

Melanie Brown begun her own fashion label in 2008 under the name Br.wn Clothes. Br. wn Clothes is all about femininity in a pure and realistic sense. The clothes have a sexy elegance with a little twist somewhere; a playfulness, things that shouldnot fit somehow do. Br.wn Clothes are intended for woman who cherish clothes for their quality of cut, material and detail. They are intended for woman who want something a little bit different, woman who dare. The clothes, like the individual who chooses to wear them, have a strong indentity.

Saturday 8th November at 11am SLT was the RUNWAY Best of Couture Fall Revue 2008 featuring couture designs from twenty of Second Life’s top fashion designer stores.  The lucky models getting to showcase these gorgeous couture outfits were the twenty Miss Virtual World 2009 Finalists and twenty RUNWAY models.  The twenty fashion designers of tonight’s event were  Bliss Couture by Amutey DeCuir, Beauty Design and Fashion by Katlaya Greggan, Bolero Collection by Amanda Bolero, Brenda Clellon Designs by Brenda Clellon, EROS by Keth Mommsen, Frozen Turquoise Valentine by Valenttino Carfogno, Jador Fashions by Ziamela Loon, Lady Thera by Thera Taurog, Baiastice by Sissy Pessoa, Lapointe and BastChild by Paul Lapointe and BastChild Lotus, LeeZu Baxter Designs by LeeZu Baxter, Orage Creations by Elettra Gausman, The Niven Collection by Scarlett Niven, NM Haute, Couture by Nuno McCullough, Serene Sensations by Soraya Blanchere, Simone! By Simone Stern, Styles of edo by Mami Jewel, VictoriaV Fashion by VictoriaV and Vasgez McMillan and finally Zullay Designs by Zullay Thor.  I’m sure you will agree that’s a very impressive selection of designers to showcase.  Each designer showcased two of their best couture lines with two models walking out in synch, one Miss Virtual World 2009 Finalist and one RUNWAY model.  The choreography was superb.  Maggie Mahoney did a fantastic job at hosting the show, giving great details about what each of the models was wearing.  The runway was breathtaking, all in luxurious purple, silver and white with beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. All of the seating for the audience was also colour co-ordinated.  I am sure you will agree when you see from the pictures that it was truly breathtaking and so fitting for such a wonderful event.  Unfortunately due to crashing some of the pictures were taken backstage as I missed them on the runway but I tried to get pictures of as many as I could.  With friends and colleagues in this event it was a one I couldn’t miss.

This week I’m ecstatic to write about Glowing Gems by Jenny Thielt. Don’t let the fact that the store has been open for less than a year fool you; Jenny has been designing since she joined Second Life (R) almost 2 years ago. She has taken jewelry inworld to a whole new level. The first time I spoke to Jenny about my love of her jewelry I was delighted to find that she doesn’t use bling! Yay! No more “bling off” commands every time I place my jewelry. Instead, the Glowing Gems pieces do just that, they slightly glow, and the effect is amazing. She focuses on simple elegance, nothing too gaudy. Glowing Gems enhance instead of detract from your overall appearance.

Through Second Life (R), Jenny has found a place to release some of her creative energy. She has enjoyed the endless possibilities presented inworld and has created an amazing place for jewelry. That isn’t all, though. Jenny has been insanely busy releasing a new line of skins and setting up an affiliate program.

There are awesome things going on down at Glowing Gems and a stop in her store will show you just how amazing her work is. You can find her jewelry and her skins at Agard.

What do you do if you get dropped a bunch of boxes with fashionable men’s clothes? I thought of changing myself into an male avatar but why spending lindens on changing your appearance if you have some male friends who are willing to model for you?

So, today I am presenting some very fashionable men’s outfits from Sartoria which is part of Mimi´s choice. It is owned by reseller Mimi Juneau who collects the best brands in one shop. But because the collection grows every day, she had to split it up, in one shop for men and one shop for women, next to each other. Sartoria is one of those great brands, but there are a lot more like Styles of edo, Bax Coen boots, SFDesigns, Anubis Style, Storm Schmooz shoes, Jeepers Creepers shoes, Lady Thera’s dresses and much more, the one next to the other.

Landmark for the men’s store: Mimi´s choice for men & for women: Mimi´s choice for women . These two stores are next to the new Redgrace Mainstore which will open on Friday, August 29th.

Being well into the Summer, we’ve all had a ton of time to enjoy the latest and the greatest in this year’s Summer lines. As we prepare for the Autumn line of fashion to begin decorating shop windows, I’ve got to take some time to share with you my favorite designer in this year’s Summer fashion. I came across the Bolero Collection as I was taking a much needed break from the world to shop. I was overwhelmed with the different pieces, the amazing colors, and the unique designs! Amanda Bolero has created items for all moods, as she says:

“Sometimes I feel romantic so I design a gown, or aggressive, or dreamy and so on. I think every woman has to wear what expresses herself that day, to feel comfortable in any situation: from shopping to a party, from going to work to staying at home. But, they always need a touch of originality and elegance.”

I followed her advice and I chose outfits based on my moods. For my fun and flirtatious mood I chose the Estivo Rose outfit. The gorgeous textures and the prim buckle attachment were the perfect fit for a casual day out.

We’ve had a few more great sponsors recently, and I was lucky enough to have the chance to talk to them about their favourite designs, their love for Second Life, and where they get their inspiration from. The past week had some fantastic sponsors, both for events and for our VIP group’s Happy Hour: House of Heart and Envied. If you haven’t yet had a chance to join the group, it’s something you should put on your immediate to-do list: ~*Ewing Events VIP Guest List*~. Enrollment is open and members get all kinds of benefits, such as discounts on ALTAMODA magazine advertisements, freebies from sponsors and much more. For those who are shamefully not yet in the group, I’ll give you a sneak peek at the most recent sponsors, and you can add another line on your to-do list, “Places to visit.”

When it comes to hair, House of Heart has become one of my favorites. Sheltered Heart and her RL husband, whom she actually met in SL, have worked hard to make House of Heart what it is today. Sheltered has created some of the most realistic looking hair you can find and she’s been doing it for almost two and a half years now.

She has a variety of designs to suit all kinds of styles. To do this she draws inspiration from a variety of places: hair magazines, clothing she loves, and people she meets. With so many styles to choose, she couldn’t begin to pick a favourite as I talked to her about them. She did let me know that she prefers short hair to long in RL and SL, though. I guess that makes two of us!
