Have you been thinking about training for the exciting world of fashion modeling? Do you wonder what it takes to become a successful model in Second Life?

The instructors of the Ewing Elite Model Training Program are pleased to announce the start of its next session on Monday, June 22nd, 2009. Class sessions are planned for 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM SLT, enrollment permitting, running from June 22nd through July 3rd, 2009 with the Graduation Show on Sunday 5th July. Classes will consist of three sessions per week meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday plus at least two runway workshops per week. The cost for the course is L$10,000. All serious aspiring models, male and female are invited to interview. Please contact Ella Quinsette or Raine Mcellan to book an appointment for an interview if you wish to be considered. Also, please submit a short bio about yourself and your interests. Each interview is expected to last thirty minutes. If invited to interview, you will be given a location and be expected to dress professionally and appropriately for the world of fashion modeling. After all interviews are finished, successful applicants will be notified and invited to register for classes. More information on the training course can be found at the EFA website. For further information and to stay updated on possible changes, please visit the EFA Fashion Blog regularly and join the ~*EWING TRAINING WAITING LIST*~ group. Ewing Elite Model Training has produced highly successful models including Miss Virtual World 2009 contestants Aleida Rhodes, Tiffany Dragonash and ZoeAnastasia Aeon as well as the August 2008 JCNY Model’Fest Winner, Ella Quinsette, and many others. We look forward to seeing you at the interview and wish you the best in realizing your potential as a fashion model.

After the audition, with many gorgeous models, the decision had to be made which models will walk the runway during the EFA-AIFW2009 show. We are proud to present to you the names of these models. Joining lead model Rena Mascot will be Aleida Rhode (Miss SL World 2008 ), Gamp Lane, Imogen Miklos, Laura18 Streeter, Mariah Urriah, Menja Slade, Mimmi Boa (Miss Virtual World, 2009), Payton Heron (Runway Magazine Model of the Year 2009) and ZoeAnastasia Aeon. This is a diverse of group of professional Second Life models from around the world, emphasing the global reach that is available to this digital world.  These models will be walking together on the same runway  though they are based in Asia, Europe and the Americas.  Rehearsals have already begun under the direction of show host Tiffany Dragonash and lead model Rena Mascot.

Laura18 Streeter: “I barely had time to know what hit me at the casting, … I didn’t expect to be chosen!  I think this is a grand show that EFA is putting on and the whole idea of matched time/walk/runway/model looks and viewing both shows in both worlds to be really cool.”

Gamp Lane: “I am so pleased to be invited to participate in the EFA-AIFW show as a model.  I believe the real life public by and large views Second Life with a skeptical eye.  Those of us who reside in this virtual world are well aware of the incredible talent here and the amount of work involved in our activities.  For this show alone, models will spend hours practicing on the runway and styling the clothing we will be privileged to wear.  There has already been an incredible amount of work done to organize this show, and that is reflected in the attention to detail that I witness at each practice.  As a long time Second Life model, it is exciting to know that I will be walking the runway just as the Real life models are walking in Amsterdam.  Through Second life, I am living a dream that would have been impossible for me in First life, and I am so very thankful for this opportunity.”

Imogen Miklos: “I was so excited about having the opportunity of auditioning for a spot in the EFA-AIFW show just in general. Knowing that Ewing Agency is ran by some of the most professional models in the SL modeling industry, I would have to do my best to impress. I feel very honored that I was chosen out of this pool of talented ladies. The competition was extremely fierce with some truly impressive models in the running. I am thrilled to be part of the Ewing Family and look forward to the new friendships I will gain in the process. “

Menja Slade: “It was my first audition  and so I was really kicking myself as I was answering the question, there was so much more I wanted to say.. but my typing was not so fast… so I just typed the first thing that came to my mind. Hearing all the other answers I felt that moment that this was the end for me. My surprise was immense when I got the invitation. I was more then happy and also proud that I made it, that my hard work in becoming a professional model was now topped with being in an EFA show. Being finally aware what kind of show this is, I am even more excited (gladly I have no time now for a nervous break down.. I think I will simply have it after the show ~laughs~). I really thank my friends who were backing me up to try it… and thanking EFA for giving me this chance to have an amazing new experience.”

Rena Mascot: “Always trying something new makes me excited… but i feel dread if we fail for the show too. It was very good what we take picture together and  we shout “cheer up” together at backstage before start the training and I believe we can make this show very good ^^ because I am with very pretty and good models “cheer up” ^^ “

It can be very expensive to stay ahead of the fashion trends in Second Life™. Most month’s I spend around $5000 Linden or more on skin, hair, shoes, clothing, and accessories. That doesn’t mean that I don’t love a wonderful store freebie, group gift, or hunt find. Those freebies can spruce up your wardrobe when your wallet has nothing but lint in it.

Pixeldolls is one of the best kept secrets in SL™, and their subscrib-o-matic is a gift giving MACHINE, granting about a gift per week. Aoharu even has a 50% sale through January 17th, Tuli has released new Meredith make-ups and is giving one away free in the store, and LeLutka (MMS) has a group gift if you join now.

Here are some of what I’ve found to be the best groups, subscrib-o-matics, and store freebies in SL™:

EFA-AIFW2009 Invite audition models 4 January 2009

On Sunday 4 January 2009, 12.00 AM – 02.00 PM SLT the model audition for the EFA-AIFW2009 show will take place.

Models will receive an invitation from Tiffany Dragonash or Kay Fairey to join the audition.

Be welcome to give the girls some support during the casting! You can find us at Ischia, Ewing Fashion District.

A big part of fashion in Second Life is poses which can involve several areas from fashion photographs right onto the catwalk.   If you are like me, you probably have poses scattered throughout your inventory making it difficult to find the right poses for the right occassion.  I finally threw my hands up and said “enough.”  So I went on a search to find the perfect vehicle which will give me the versatility I needed, at an affordable price, and didn’t require that I was a scripting genuis in order to operate it .  I tried out a few until I hit pay dirt – Tillie’s Posing Stand – created by Tillie Ariantho.   Tillie Ariantho wears many hats in the fashion world.  She is not only a wonderful photographer (Tillie Ariantho’s Flickr page), models herself, has her own blog called Tillie’s Things of Second Life and her own store called Tillie’s Store, where you can purchase this posestand.  So if anyone knew what was needed, surely she would.  I wasn’t disappointed!

Last weekend the RL-audition for models for the EFA-AIFW2009 show took place in Amsterdam.

The Artist Advice: “For this show we need 30 models. We’re looking for tall and skinny models. The normal 1.75 – 1.80 length and sizes close to 90-60-90. We took basic pictures of the models and now we are waiting for the designers to decide which ones they like to see at the catwalk. This week the decision will be made!”

Shown in the photos are 3 models who participated at the audition.  Will we see them in January, during the EFA-AIFW2009 show in the Beurs van Berlage?

Also EFA will start to create the model team. Our team, led by top-model Rena Mascot, will consist of 8 models with more or less the same look as the RL models. Are you interested in walking on the runway during the EFA-AIFW2009 show and do you have extensive runway experience?  Please read on and follow the instructions.
