Unfortunately Simone Stern has left the EFA-AIFW2009 show. She made the requested dresses for the show, which turned out to be beautiful as expected from Simone. Only I had the remark that I felt a little bit concerned by them, because it did not refer at all to the dresses of the RL show, which was the target for this event. We had a discussion about her style and the style of the RL designer. And unfortunate it ended with the decision of Simone to leave the show and not participate anymore. I regret she is leaving, I would love to have her included.

The first time I met Simone Stern was at the beginning of my EFA-carrier, as present she gave me her new collection. I am still wearing these dresses, for me, that is what is characteristic for Simone’s design, the beautiful textures and the strong design make each piece timeless and can be add easily to a fashionable vintage collection.  Definitly showed with the Una-dress atthe EFA-Design Award Show. But Simone is not only designing gowns! With her “Style starts here” brand she demonstrate she can do much more, casualwear with modern flair,  jeans, fun tops, sexy boots, and even lingerie. With her creativity for so many styles, I am anxious to see what she will make of the designs in the EFA-AIFW2009 show, time for some questions!

For the EFA-AIFW2009 show you have to reproduce 4 outfits from the RL-show. The RL-designer describes her designs as follow: “My common designs are simple and wearable dresses. Those are most of the time make from the unusual choice of material.”  How far does your style meet this style? And can you replace yourself in this style and work with it?

Simone: I think my ‘Style’ line is utterly wearable, utterly comfortable. Tops and slacks, and dresses that wear easily and don’t need a ton of accessories to look chic. The cocktail/party dress line at Simone is very wearable too, definitely fashion without a lot of fuss. The wedding gowns are…wedding gowns! They’re dreamy, floaty, soft fantasies, meant for that ONE special day.

You are placed in the theme “Now”  for the show. Do you have some feeling with this theme related to your common style? Does it fit you?

Simone:  The response to the Style line has been very gratifying and continues to grow  in popularity. The Style line is very modern, casual, and wearable. I’m having fun designing casual clothes for men and women. If I could sum up the line in just a few words, I’d say something like “Easy self-confidence.”

The color of the designs you will create for this show is red. Do you use this color a lot? What is the special challenge for this color? Do you have a special connection with this color?

Simone: Uhm, I had to pick one color? OOPS!  Too late! I picked all three, of course!

EFA - AIFW2009

About Amsterdam Fashion Week

“AIFW is steadily establishing itself as a young and directional alternative to the world’s more traditional fashion weeks. Focusing on Amsterdam’s reputation as an inspiring city, the AIFW programme combines commerce with creativity. Alongside our catwalk show schedule our programme includes fashion events, lectures, exhibitions, retail initiatives and parties. As well as a showcase for Dutch fashion, AIFW provides a stage for the growing New Luxury segment, that so far was stuck between existing mainstream trade events and traditional couture weeks. Only an hour or so away from anywhere, our city has a lot to offer: a growing pool of talent, an inspiring place to visit and a vibrant place to do business. Editions of AIFW were held twice a year since July 2004. AIFW is attracting a growing audience of directional international”.

Simone! Ice Princess

Simone! Ice Princess

They say love is not measured by how it makes you feel, but by how you make the other person feel.  If that’s the case, then Simone Stern truly loves us.   Simone! Designs has released an exquisite new gown called the Ice Princess, that will not only kindle sparks of romance, but will make you feel like royalty.

When I first started Second Life back in March of 2006, one of the first places I discovered for quality clothing at reasonable prices was Simone! DesignsSimone Stern has been around Second Life since December 2004, so she’s no stranger when it comes to clothing design.  That quickly becomes apparent when you teleport to her store and your eyes gaze upon the vibrant colors and wonderfully detailed designs.  Some of those designs you can check out at her store, Simone! Designs and her blog by the same name.

No wardrobe is complete without a formal gown and Simone! Designs does not disappoint.  Sensual yet classy, the Ice Princess comes in several different colors — Green (not pictured), Champagne, Red, Purple, Silver, Pink and Blue (not pictured) as well as several different wearing options.  Feeling a tad more formal, you can wear the belle flexi skirt or if you want to feel a bit more sexy, you could slip on the flexi train skirt.  It also comes with gloves for that more sophisticated look.

This isn’t called the Ice Princess for nothing…plenty of skin showing to allure any man to embrace you to warm you up.  With the highly detailed halter top, criss-crossing jewels across the midriff and seductive bare back, you will be sure to set the right mood for that romantic evening.  A must have for any wardrobe.

As you travel around the grid, you cannot help but notice that Christmas time is on the way!  The tropical beaches are making way for winter wonderlands and palm trees are replaced by Christmas trees.  Time to forget the cocktails for a while and sit at the fireplace with a hot chocolate!

The shops and designers are preparing their season collections.  And so is Simone Stern.  As a present she gave me her new Christmas creations.  It is a big collection, in the traditional colors of red, green, white and black.  But also some surprising pastels and purple.  The red line through all are the fur and bows, they make the look rich and can be detached easily in such a way that a good wearable outfit is still there.  The collection is sweet and naughty at the same time and reminded me of Christmas pin-ups from the 50’s, naughty with a wink, but always sexy. Of course this collection has all that Simone! normally brings, high quality, detailed textures and all items in all layers.  And a nice plus, the outfits are very reasonable priced (200LD).

Let it snow,  let it snow,  let it snow!

Thanks to Kafee Iwish for making the pictures.

I am very proud to present to you the SL-designer team for  EFA-AIFW2009!   The team was simply formed by including the first 6 respondants to the participating call in the Ewing VIP-guest Group and at our blog. But I think I could not have dreamed of a better team.  Aside from being well-known names in the fashion scene, their individual styles are all very different, from classical gala gowns to Indian style fashion.   And different from the EFA-First Fusion show, this designer team is not only dutch, but very international.

The designers are: Sysy Chapman, Zaara Kohime, Digit Darkes, Neferia Abel, Simone Stern and Sascha Frangilli

It will be anxious to see how this group will translate the RL-outfits to Second Life.  Can they think out of the box?  Are they able to use the photo’s and rough sketches of the designs to create something new?  Will we recognise their style in the designs?  One thing is for sure, they are brave enough to take this step and make this event another historical step in Second Life fashion and cross-over events.  And I am really looking forward to working together with them on this this great opportunity!

EFA-AIFW2009 Jennifer Delano

The RL-designer for the EFA-AIFW2009 will be Jennifer Delano.  Those who have been following EFA will recognise her name from the EFA-First Fusion show in February 2008.  What can the SL-designers expect this time?  I asked Jennifer some quick questions to get a little idea.

Jennifer, can you describe shortly your common designs?

My common designs are simple and wearable dresses. Those are most of the time make from the unusual choice of material.

What kind of collection do you have in mind for the AIFW2009?  What can we expect and what is your inspiration for this show?

The Fashion Week show is based on my three colours. White, red and black. The theme is black – looking at the past. Red – looking at now. White – looking at the future. Thats why we’ll show it at the Beurs van Berlage, this beautiful building has three pieces of art who represent past, now and future.

Put already a mark at 26 January 2009 in your schedule, to be sure you will not miss what this creative team will present to you during EFA-AIFW2009!
